Sometimes a tree is just in the wrong spot. Maybe it was planted without a long-term plan, or the layout of the property changed over time. Either way, pulling it out and tossing it in a brush pile isn't always the answer - especially when the tree itself is healthy and worth saving.

We headed out to Mosinee to relocate a few apple trees for a customer who needed them moved to a better location on their property. This kind of work isn't something you can do with a shovel and a pickup truck. It takes the right equipment and a steady hand to pull a root ball cleanly out of the ground without wrecking the tree in the process.

We ran our Bobcat mini excavator fitted with a hydraulic grapple attachment for this one. That grapple lets us get a solid grip around the base and root ball, then lift and carry the tree without tearing it apart. It's controlled, precise work. The goal is to keep as much of the root structure intact as possible so the tree has a real shot at surviving the move and settling into its new home.

Once the trees were set in their new spots, we got them seated at the right depth with fresh soil packed around the base. Proper depth and backfill matter a lot here - too shallow or too deep and you're setting the tree up to struggle. Get it right and the tree barely skips a beat. These apple trees are now positioned well and set up to keep growing for years to come.

If you've got trees that need to be moved - whether it's fruit trees, ornamental trees, or anything else sitting in the wrong location - this is exactly the kind of landscaping and excavation work we handle. It's not complicated when you have the right equipment and know what you're doing, but it's easy to do damage when you don't.
