Old asphalt has a way of aging out fast in Wisconsin. Years of freeze-thaw cycles leave it cracked, heaved, and broken up into chunks. At that point, patching is just a band-aid - the only real fix is getting it out and starting fresh.
That's exactly what we're doing here in Mosinee. The existing asphalt was well past its useful life. Our Bobcat T770 track loader with a grapple bucket makes quick work of breaking up and clearing out the old material. The tracked machine keeps ground disturbance controlled and lets us get into tight areas without tearing up the surrounding yard any more than necessary.
Driveway removal isn't just about ripping stuff out. The site prep underneath is what actually matters. Once the old asphalt is gone, the subgrade needs to be properly shaped and graded before anything new goes down. Skip that step and your new surface is already set up to fail.
Jobs like this one are the kind of thing that can drag on forever without the right equipment and a crew that knows what they're doing. We keep things moving efficiently so the site is ready for the next phase - whether that's a clean gravel driveway or another surface entirely.
If you've got a cracked, busted-up driveway that needs to go, this is the kind of work we do every day. Proper removal, proper site prep - that's where a quality driveway starts.
