Some properties just get away from you over time. Downed trees piling up, undergrowth taking over, logs scattered through the woods with no clean way to access any of it. That was the situation here in Rib Mountain - a wooded hillside near the house that had turned into a real mess. Fallen timber, tangled brush, and ground cover that made the whole area basically unusable.
We handled it in two parts. First, the log cleanup - we used the Bobcat T770 with a grapple attachment to grab and stack the cut logs for removal. Big pieces, some of them pretty substantial, that were just sitting on the ground going nowhere on their own. Getting those out of the way was step one before we could really dig in.
Then came the forestry mulching. We ran the Diamond Mowers mulching head through the area and knocked down all the remaining brush, stumps, and debris. That machine grinds everything right into the ground - no hauling, no burning, no mess left behind. What you end up with is a clean layer of mulch sitting on the soil, which is actually good for the ground long term.
The end result speaks for itself. The whole wooded section near the home went from an overgrown tangle to a clean, open floor you can actually walk through. Better access, better visibility, and a lot less fire and pest risk sitting right up against the house. That is what we are going for every time - making land more usable without gutting what makes it worth having.
Forestry mulching is one of the most efficient ways to deal with this kind of situation. One machine, minimal ground disturbance, and no debris left to deal with afterward. If you have a wooded area on your property that has gotten out of hand, this is worth looking into.
