A lot of waterfront properties in central Wisconsin have the same problem. The usable yard ends and then it's just a wall of brush, scrubby undergrowth, and overgrown vegetation taking over the shoreline. You can't get through it, you can't maintain it, and it makes the whole property feel smaller than it actually is. That's exactly what we were dealing with here near Lake DuBay in Mosinee.

The before shots tell the story pretty clearly. Dense brush choking the slope down toward the water, with no clean line between the lawn and the treeline. Not dangerous, just completely out of hand. The kind of thing that gets ignored for a season or two until it becomes a real headache to deal with.

We ran our Bobcat T86 with a Diamond mulching head through the whole area. That machine is purpose-built for this kind of work - it grinds everything down in one pass and leaves a clean, stable surface without tearing up the ground underneath. No hauling debris, no burn piles, no ripping out root systems. The mulch just gets worked back into the soil right where it falls. It's a much cleaner approach than conventional clearing, and it's a lot easier on the land.

What you end up with is a defined, open corridor along the water. The mature pines and hardwoods are still standing exactly where they were. We just cleared everything out below and between them so the property is actually usable again. The slope is clean, accessible, and easy to maintain going forward.

If you've got a stretch of property that's gotten away from you - whether it's a lakefront lot, a field edge, a trail corridor, or just an overgrown corner you've been ignoring - forestry mulching is usually the most efficient way to get it back under control. One pass, one machine, and you're done.
