The Wausau Skeet & Trap Club had a real problem on their hands. Thick brush, downed timber, and years of overgrowth had taken over sections of the property - making access difficult and the land basically unusable. It was the kind of mess that looks like a headache no matter how you approach it. That's exactly where forestry mulching comes in.
What makes forestry mulching the right call for a job like this is that it handles everything in one pass. The brush, the small trees, the downed logs - it all gets chewed up and laid back down as mulch right on the ground. No hauling debris off-site. No burning. No tearing up the ground with heavy equipment. The mature trees stay standing, and the property stays intact. It's a cleaner process than most people expect.
We ran the Bobcat through sections of the property that were packed with undergrowth and fallen material. Some of it was dense enough that you could barely see through it from the cab. Bit by bit, that stuff got cleared out and replaced with open ground and a layer of fine mulch. The difference between where we started and where we ended up was night and day.
The club now has clear access through areas that were previously blocked off. Trails are opened up. Ground is accessible. And the overall condition of the property is just in a lot better shape. That's the real value of forestry mulching - it doesn't just clear the land, it makes it usable again without leaving behind a torn-up mess.
