A driveway full of ruts, soft spots, and washouts is more than just an eyesore. It beats up your vehicles, turns into a muddy mess every time it rains, and just gets worse the longer you let it go. That's exactly what we were dealing with on this one in Tomahawk.

Here's what we were working with - a worn-out gravel drive that had lost its base, eroded along the edges, and didn't have the structure to handle regular traffic anymore. Before any gravel goes down, the groundwork has to be right. We brought in the excavator and skid steer to grade things out, address the soft areas, and get the surface ready to actually hold up long-term.

One thing that makes a job like this more involved is the surrounding terrain. This driveway runs right alongside low-lying wet ground on both sides. To keep the edges from washing out again, we lined them with large crushed rock - the kind that doesn't budge when water moves through. That's the detail that separates a driveway that lasts from one that needs to be redone in a couple years.

Once the base was solid and the edging was set, we brought in fresh gravel and finished the surface smooth. What you end up with is a firm, well-drained drive that can handle traffic without turning into a mess every time it gets wet. No more ruts. No more mud patches. Just a clean, functional driveway.

If your gravel driveway has seen better days - whether it's rutted out, washing away, or just falling apart - we can sort it out. We handle the full process from excavation and grading to gravel delivery and finish work, all across the Tomahawk area.
