Hunting Property Driveway Upgrade in Hatley Gets a Fresh Grade

Here's what we were working with on this Hatley property - a rutted, overgrown two-track that was barely holding up under normal use. Soft spots, poor drainage, and uneven ground made getting in and out a hassle. That kind of access problem adds up fast, especially on hunting land where you're hauling equipment, trailers, and ATVs through all kinds of conditions.

We brought in our Bobcat track loader fitted with a roller attachment and got to work shaping the grade from one end of the drive to the other. The roller does two things well - it levels the surface and compacts it so the material bonds together instead of shifting loose with every pass of a truck. That's the difference between a driveway that holds up and one that needs attention every season.

The grading work addressed the crown of the road too, which is what actually controls drainage. Without a proper crown, water pools in the center and breaks the surface down from underneath. Get the grade right and you stop most of that damage before it starts. Less rutting, less soft spots, less headache.

What you end up with is a clean, firm surface that handles loaded trucks without breaking apart. On a hunting property like this one, that matters. Whether you're getting in early for a morning sit or hauling out after a long day, the last thing you want is a driveway that fights you. This one won't.
