Here's what we were working with on this Mosinee property - a new build that needed the yard shaped up properly and a driveway that would actually hold up. Raw, uneven ground around a fresh home is one of those things that looks manageable until you realize how much work goes into getting it right. Drainage, slope, surface stability - it all has to work together.

The yard prep and grading side of this job was handled with the Bobcat T770, moving and redistributing material to get the ground sitting the way it needs to before anything else happens. Grading isn't just about making things look flat. It's about making sure water runs away from the home and the surface is ready for what comes next - whether that's seed, sod, or more hardscaping down the road.

The gravel driveway portion is where you really see the payoff of doing the base work right. A driveway without a solid, properly graded base will shift, rut, and wash out - especially through Wisconsin freeze-thaw cycles. We built this one to last, with gravel packed and graded clean from edge to edge.

What ties all of this together is the prep. Good excavation and grading work up front means less headache later. Drainage problems, soft spots, and driveway failures almost always trace back to corners cut during the ground prep phase. We don't skip that part.

Properties in the Mosinee area deal with a lot of seasonal ground movement and moisture. Getting the grade right from the start protects your investment and keeps you from dealing with the same problems year after year. This is the kind of work that doesn't always get attention - but it's what holds everything else up.
