Getting a yard ready for grass isn't just about throwing down seed and hoping for the best. It starts way earlier than that - with clearing, grading, and making sure the ground underneath is actually set up to drain and grow the way it should. That's exactly what we were out here doing in Merrill.
The site had stumps, root masses, and rough uneven ground that needed to come out before anything else could happen. We ran both our CAT and Bobcat track loaders to pull stumps and break up the surface. Root systems like the ones we were pulling here can cause real problems down the road if they're left in place - they rot, they settle, and they create low spots that hold water. Getting them out clean is the only right way to do it.
Once the clearing was done, we brought in the dump truck to haul everything off. Clean site, clean slate. From there it's about working the ground down to a smooth, consistent grade - the kind of surface that gives you good drainage and a solid base for topsoil and seed.
A lot of people skip the prep or rush through it. Then they wonder why their lawn is patchy, why water pools in certain spots, or why they've got soft areas that never seem to firm up. The prep work is what separates a yard that looks decent for one season from one that actually holds up year after year. Our excavation work is designed to get that foundation right from the start.
Whether you're dealing with a rough lot, old stumps, or a yard that just needs to be regraded and started fresh - this is the kind of work we do every day. Merrill and the surrounding area, we're out here with the equipment and the crew to get it done.
